               Voted Maine's #1 Independent Bookstore

A block up from the waterfront, you'll find Camden's oldest year-round full service-bookstore.  At
the Owl & Turtle, we pride ourselves on providing first-name personal attention to all who step into
our store.

Our shelves are lined with more than ten thousand hand-selected titles in sections that include
Maine, history, fiction and cooking, to name a few.  We have an entire room dedicated to
children's titles that even features a glass floor overlooking the water below.  Our marine room is
equally stocked and includes nautical charts and maps.  We are considered to have one of the
finest selections of nautical titles in the nation.

We host or sponsor more than 50 events a year.  Authors from all over the nation have visited our
store to inspire, educate and entertain.  Within the past few years we have been honored to
conduct events with best selling authors David McCullough, Jane Smiley, Nathaniel Philbrick, Ron
Chernow, Scott Turow, Martin Cruz Smith, Frank Deford, Elizabeth Gilbert, Thomas Friedman,
Anne Rivers Siddons, Richard Russo and many more.

Please stop by and visit us in person.  It won't be long before you too will call the Owl & Turtle
your favorite bookstore.

“One of Maine’s best
bookstores, now located in
an old mill with maple
floors and dark wood
book cases, with a reading
corner by a fireplace.  The
children’s room has a little
wishing well with a glass
window on Megunticook
River.  A marine room
holds one of the best
selections of marine books
on the East Coast.  Free
parking on Mechanic
Street and in a lot up the
street.  Marine history,
travel and art.  Great for
browsing, and check out
their frequent author book
signings.” –
